Choose a week in September 2024, January, February, March, or April 2025
The Cook on Clay compound houses our home, studios, showroom, and soda kiln. You will have a private guest room with a bathroom in our home on Whidbey Island. A morning meal is provided.
After our morning meal, we will convene to Robbie’s studio for instruction and demos, making pots, and always ongoing conversation.
We’ll really dig into a form and it’s elements you would like to develop. The goal here is to focus and hone a form or idea. We can work on altering from the round, handles that work both functionally and aesthetically, lids that fit, feet that lift, a personal visual language.
Beginners are also welcome. Even if you’ve never touched clay but are curious, we can customize your experience to introduce you to the wonders of throwing on the potter’s wheel and making slab pots.
Evenings can be shared or open for exploring our “village by the sea”. If you don’t have a car, arrangements can be made for visits to other pottery studios on Whidbey Island, explore the Island with walks by the sea or in the forest, tickets for local cultural events, and restaurant reservations.
$2,550 includes : housing, morning meals, clay, daily demos, instruction, and bisque firings. A deposit of $500 will reserve your week.
Let's craft a workshop just for you or a group of family and friends to experience the joys of working with clay. Possibilities abound! Fun will be had!
For more experienced potters, help design a workshop just for you. Focus on honing a skill, a particular form to explore, handles, lids . . . whatever you choose.
Together we'll choose time of year, number of days, subject focus, goals.
Whether an experienced potter or curious about clay, we will have a great time!
